Atomic Bomb Dome

All humankind should visit this place at least once in a life....

In the afternoon, we went to Atomic Bomb Dome (5) located downtown in Hiroshima. On August 6, 1945, Hiroshima was chosen by US armed forces as the first ever target of an atomic bomb employed over a populated area (5-1). As a result, 200,000 civilians lost their lives (5-2), and Hiroshima became a city vehemently engaged in the promotion of peace.

Next, we entered in the Peace Memorial Museum which graphically displays the atomic bomb's horrible effects on the city and its inhabitants. This museum made us depressed. You should be ready for facing the facts.

Between the museum and the Atomic Bomb Dome stands the Memorial Cenotaph for Atomic Bomb Victims. It contains a list of all the people who were killed by the explosion or died due to the bombing's long-term effects such as cancer caused by radiation. The entrance fee is just 50 yen.(50 cents)
